Power of Information Review and Public Sector Information
18/04/2008
“The Power of Information Review (POIR), commissioned by the Cabinet
Office, explored the Government’s role in maximising the benefits for
communities through new technologies and online tools.
The Review examined the potential to empower the public through
information sharing sites on the internet and how these sites, and the
knowledge and information held by others, could improve their lives.
The authors, Tom Steinberg, of mySociety, and Ed Mayo, Chief Executive
of the National Consumer Council, made 15 recommendations on how Government
should respond to the growth of online communities and the new uses for public
sector information (PSI). It looked at how PSI could be re-used to benefit
communities and how Government could get involved.”
