The European Parliament (“EP”) offers the possibility to read the debates on its website. Of course the displayed speech text is presented in the language of the MEP. But translations (up to now only in 11 languages) are available a few weeks after. Hopefully that will be also the case for the “new” languages in a near future.
To promote the multilingualism, it would be interesting to offer the display of the text of a speech in two different languages on the same screen (source language and a selected other one).
But it could be better to give also the possibility to hear in your language or in the source language.
Perhaps with a video to watch the expressions of the speaker?
A good linguistic exercise based on political matters.
A promotion of our wealthy linguistic Europe.
