It is difficult for the agents of government to be up-to-date for legislation, government directives and procedures currently undergoing changes constantly.

To overcome this problem, the project Sake working on a platform to inform people of changes based on their areas of expertise. The goal is to provide background information and filtered, with an easy access.

To achieve this, the system, called AMS (Attention Management System), includes information such as basic business user, but also records their habits on the platform: viewed pages, themes ...

USA: Open Government and authentication in the context of participative web.

Some U.S. governmental websites will use technology OpenID and Information Card to enable citizens to connect. The goal: to facilitate interaction on blogs and social networks hosted on these sites. 

The U.S. government launched a pilot program to open government sites with decentralized authentication system. The initiative was announced in a conference called "Summit for Government 2.0. It will involve a dozen federal sites *, and aims to facilitate access to U.S. citizens. To do this, ten companies are suppliers of digital identity using the OpenID technology or Information Card. Among them, Yahoo, PayPal, Google, AOL and other major players in the digital economy.

Co-creating an open declaration on public services 2.0

In november 2009, the EU Ministerial Declaration will spell out the EU e-government policy for the next 3 years. We want to help by building a bottom-up open declaration alongside it.

We are now in the second phase, where the declaration is being drafted collaboratively. Please look at the video on the right for a short introduction.

To contribute, visit this website , where you can read and rate the submitted declarations, as described on the left. If you draft your own version, you can present it yourself on this blog as explained here.

Video: Call for submissions in Democracy Now Challenge

Two months ago, we published the story of the winners of the 2009 Democracy Now Challenge with their videos telling the world what Democracy means for them. Currently these same winners are on a two week trip around the USA, visiting Washington, New York and Hollywood, and in the meantime, the Secretary of State has already announced the 2010 Democracy Now Video Contest.

The rules are very similar to last year's. Basically, you should enter a video that's less than 3 minutes long which completes the phrase “Democracy is…”. It should either be in English or have English subtitles, and it can be any style: animated or live action, a documentary or fiction. The deadline for submitting entries is January 31st, 2010; after which a selection process will take place including community voting until 6 contestants from 6 different geographical regions are chosen, and they will be the ones to travel to the USA to speak with people from government and media.
